Neighbours star Brett Tucker has announced that he plans to quit the soap when his contract expires in September.

The 37-year-old actor, who previously starred on rural Australian drama McLeod’s Daughters before joining Neighbours in 2007 as teacher Daniel Fitzgerald, told the Herald Sun that he plans to move to the US after winning a green card.

“My contract was always two years and that was planned from day one,” Tucker said. “I have loved the opportunity, it has been fantastic to be on the show.

“I won a green card in the US lottery and I was thinking about moving there anyway. I finish in September and my flight is booked for October 6.”

Despite Tucker’s imminent departure, it is yet to be confirmed whether his on-screen wife Kym Valentine will remain with the series, leaving fans to speculate over what will become of Ramsay Street’s golden couple Libby and Dan.

You know what they say about misery just loving company.
Some four months after announcing the split from husband Jamie Babbington, Ricki-Lee Coulter has been spending time with Neighbours nice guy Brett Tucker, who recently ended his relationship with co-star Eliza Taylor-Cotter, too.
The pair arrived at the Australian Open to watch Roger Federer win over Andreas Seppi this week, and had dinner in Melbourne’s Chinatown last Saturday.

Former McLeods Daughters hunk Tucker initially said it was early days in their relationship, before saying he was “just good friends” with the songbird. “I just need her to get free tickets,” he joked.

Coulter, who announced in October she had left her husband after seven years together, played coy when asked if she and Tucker were together. “We are together at the tennis,” she quipped.
